Spring makes us want to spend time together out in the sun. It’s also time to grill those juicy meats that perfectly pair with Poggio Antico’s Brunello. Our wines are a heavenly match to succulent meats thanks to their enveloping structure and rightly tannic flavor, which always urges for yet another sip.
VINEYARD OPERATIONS
Spring has also reached the vine rows and the first operations in the vineyard begin at Poggio Antico. We are aerating the sub-rows by gently working the land: this enables the soil to breathe and openly welcome the warmth of spring. The herbs between the rows have finally bloomed, becoming food for the bees that rest on their colorful flowers
The initial part of the year has been very balanced. The winter season did not experience frost, and it was neither too cold nor excessively hot. The buds slowly open to reveal the vine flowers. The heat has prompted the vine shoots in the lower areas of Montalcino to start early vegetation, but Poggio Antico’s excellent location (at over 500 meters) allows for a constant and regular development that anticipates a good seasonal trend.
