From the highest hills of Brunello to La Place de Bordeaux with Brunello di Montalcino 2019, Riserva Brunello di Montalcino 2018, Rosso di Montalcino 2022, and the new label and first single vineyard Brunello di Montalcino Vigna i Poggi 2019: the new vintages of our wines are now available on the international market.
A genuine expression of Poggio Antico's approach, these wines – first and foremost, the new cru Vigna i Poggi – embody the "change of pace" that our entire team has been working on in recent years.
Riccardo Bogi, Sales & Marketing Manager, shared some insights about these new releases and markets.
Riccardo, what can you tell us about the new releases? How were they received?
The anticipation for 2019 has been fervent since the early days after the harvest. Vigna i Poggi, along with the vintage Brunello, was promptly and carefully distributed towards prestigious culinary destinations and selected wine shops, so as to have it paired with haute cuisine and served in the best venues.
Despite a global slowdown in the wine market, the initial feedback is extremely positive! We have already seen bottles opened in the finest restaurants, and numerous collectors, long-time friends of Poggio Antico, have been enthusiastic and eager to taste the inaugural vintage of a label destined to represent the pinnacle of our production.
We cannot overlook the success achieved by the 2018 Riserva, too: any initial uncertainties – 2018 was not a particularly celebrated vintage – were dispelled with the first sip of this wine, sourced from selected parcels to obtain grapes of great intensity and ideal characteristics for multi-decade bottle aging. Currently, the Riserva continues its journey as a collectible wine... but only for a while more – isn’t wine made to be enjoyed and shared with someone special, after all?
What are Poggio Antico's next steps regarding the promotion of wines in different international markets?
Looking ahead, our focus will be on promoting our wines in various markets through numerous activities aimed at introducing wine enthusiasts to the new vintages of our most representative wines.
As we mark our fourth year since joining La Place de Bordeaux, our representation spans globally, without constraints or boundaries. However, we don't want to solely concentrate on La Place de Bordeaux. Other key commercial markets are equally crucial. Italy, for instance, plays a pivotal role for us. It will be essential to open the doors of our company and build a trusted relationship with sommeliers and Horeca professionals. Simultaneously, targeting markets such as the United States and Canada is fundamental. In these markets, Brunello holds an excellent position, and consumers are seeking quality, excellence, personality, and distinctive style.
